Collaboration, Video Conferencing, and Live Streaming
Google Drive
Create and share open folders and documents with individuals as well as small and large groups. Google Drive contains freely available applications for creating and sharing documents, slides, spreadsheets, and other texts. EKU instructors and students now have free access to Google Drive, which includes free cloud storage, Google Docs, Google Sheets, and Google Slides, among others. Please review EKU IT information on GDrive.
Zoom
Offers video conferencing for synchronous instruction with multiple participants, screen sharing, recording a meeting or class. Using Zoom (via EKU) | Login
*Please keep in mind, automatic live captioning is not available in Zoom (automatic captions are visible only if you record a Zoom session). One recommended solution is to use Google Slides in conjunction with Zoom. Live captions will appear as you present. To learn more visit Google Drive support: Present Slides with Captions.
Skype
Efficient for holding a lecture or discussion remotely with up to 25 participants. Please review this Skype tutorial to learn how to use it in your remote classroom.
Evernote
A powerful tool for collaborative work; useful in groups where people already use the app/program. Share and collaborate with content; similar to Google Docs, with shared editing and view-only privileges. Please review this Evernote resource page for more information about this product.
YouTube Live Stream
Useful for lecture only; not good for discussion since the only audience participation is text-based. Please review this introduction to YouTube Live Streaming to get started.
